Womens Business Connection

Carollee Cabot and members of the Rollins Insurance company were “seeing red” on Friday February 3rd as part of National Wear Red Day celebration to benefit the American Heart Association (AHA). This national day raises awareness of heart disease and stroke in women. Each Rollins team member donated $5 or more to help support the life-saving programs and research of the AHA.

“The annual American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day is an easy, powerful way to speak up and show support for Go Red For Women,” said Carollee Cabot.   “We want to encourage our employees to take care of their hearts and live healthier lifestyles.  Rollins has celebrated Go Red for Women for the past 5 years and it’s been both fun and beneficial.”

The event featured Dr. Nieca Goldberg, cardiologist and nationally recognized pioneer on women’s health, Dr. Birute Regine, a developmental psychologist and international public speaker and Kelley Connors, MPH, President of KC Health and the voice of “Real Women on Health!” an online hub for women of all life stages. Dr. Traci Alexander moderated the event.

Kelley Briggs of DesignWorks, NY LLC announced that her firm was a top winner in the Advertising Club of Westchester’s prestigious 2011 “Big W’ Awards competition. The “Big W” Awards celebrate and reward excellence in creative and technical achievement by Westchester area creative professionals in the fields of advertising, marketing and promotion with Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. DesignWorks NY, LLC won 10 awards including a Gold Award for Wilson & Sons Jewelers integrated campaign, and a Bronze Award for this Women’s Business Connection website.

Monique Shire of Wilson and Sons Jewelers was recently honored with the Alumnae/i Board Award for exceptional service by Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. The award is given annually to alumnae and alumni who demonstrate outstanding service as a longstanding and devoted volunteers to the Board, Association and College. Monique will accept the award in a ceremony at Wheaton College on May 21, 2011.

Kelley Briggs of DesignWorks NY, LLC announced the firm has won two 2011 International Summit Creative Awards: a Silver for “Go Red, Kiss Off”  — a pro  bono ad for the American Heart Association, and a Bronze for an American Express brochure honoring their card partners.

Susan Marocco Interiors has been chosen as one of 25 Designers to create the Designer Showhouse of Weschester, an 11,000 square foot home and a fundraiser for Cerebral Palsy of Westchester County. This $11,000,000 home will feature a bedroom designed by Susan Marocco Interiors. Visit the showhouse from Sunday May 8th 2011 to Sunday June 12th 2011 located at: 205 West Patent Road, Bedford Corners, NY.

Monique Shire announces Wilson & Sons Jewelers has won the prestigious 2011 Business Council of Westchester’s Hall of Fame Family Business Award in Westchester County. Induction into the Business Hall of Fame is a lifetime achievement award for an individual or business that has made a significant contribution to the Westchester business community. The gala awards dinner will take place at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle on April 14, 2011.
